I am currently sunning myself on my travels throughout SE Asia, currently in Thailand, hence the lack of recipes coming your way! I'm going to be honest, it's not the easiest thing in the world being a gluten free vegan out here, but not insurmountable! Lots of stirfried mixed vegetables with rice, Thai green and red curries without fish sauce and papaya salad (also without fish sauce.) And crisps. Lots of crisps just so I don't fade away into nothingness!! Not the most varied diet but that's the price that you pay for being vegan out here. Luckily for us (my boyfriend and I) it's not a completely alien concept, if you say the word "jay" it means Jain, which are all vegan. Also there are lots of Buddists here, and we were lucky enough to find a vegan restaurant which donated all of it's profits to the Buddist community. The food was amazing and dirt cheap, two huge portions of glass noodle salad for about £1.20 for both! Also in Bangkok I was handed a leaflet for a vegan restaurant which made me happy!! I in Koh Lanta at the moment (one of the southern islands) and am heading back up to Bangkok tomorrow, so I will definitely go to that restaurant when I'm there! The food that we have managed to find has been great, and I'm looking forward to finding out what culinary delights we will be sampling in Cambodia and Vietnam! The thing I miss the most are my huge salads that I make back home, and that'll probably be the first thing I scoff when I get back!
